My Top 5 Hottest Nigerian Songs in 2014

My Top 5 Hottest Nigerian Songs in 2014

top 20 logo 05 My Top 20 Hottest Nigerian Songs 2014
2014 has been an exceptionally favored year as far as Nigerian music. A large portion of the most hottest artists of this era put out bounty material. Be it collection, feature or single. There was assortment. In the soul of Nigeria's huge music year, a rundown of the Top 5 Nigerian melodies as I would like to think has been accumulated. These tunes are not in at any rate my undisputed top choices yet an aggregation of the melodies I think shook 2014. The rundown is liable to my conclusion, which finished from examination and clearly makes space for discussion. Lets get talking, which melodies are your Top 20? The following is a rundown of mine:

    1. Aye – Davido: The 2014 song of the year had to come from the man of the Year. In the summer of 2013 Davido dropped Skelewu which some might regard as 2013’s biggest tune because of the dance and ofcourse the songs effect. Instead of riding on the Skelewu fame for 2014, the self proclaimed Omo Baba Olowo shocked doubters with this well arranged and melodious song ‘Aye’. The song dropped in February 2014 and a video was released shortly. Since then the whole of Africa has sung her heart out. Many people are still in awe of this rendition. The producer T-spice would probably concede to this song as his biggest production ever to date. Davido won more fans with Aye than he did with Skelewu. The brand grew bigger because of Aye. On YouTube, the video has hit over 12 million views since its release this year. That is the most of any Nigerian video released this year. ‘She no want designer, She no want Ferrari, She say na my love’. Need I say more?
    2. Johnny – Yemi Alade: Like Surulere, Yemi Alade’s Johnny was dropped in 2013. October 2013 to be precise. But this song did not really take off until February 2014. The video dropped in March and it made the song massive this year, taking the songstress to debut album levels. Every girl was certainly looking for her Johnny this year, be it at parties, weddings etc. Yemi also scored awards and nominations this year for this single. Being the most viewed Nigerian song by a Female artiste, Johnny made Yemi Alade the King of Queens in 2014. This song just piped Dorobucci for second. The song was and still is very very big.
    3. Dorobucci – Mavins (Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince Dr Sid, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and D’ija): This Doro song was so mega and super that the Mavins became arguably the hottest Label/ Group in 2014. The song had the ‘booty call’ effect from the now defunct Mo’hits. Don Jazzy certainly used this song to remind Nigeria and Africa that he can still make massive songs and also put out new faces through the involvement of his Mavin 2.0. The word Doro is over used in Nigeria at least and the common argument is who had the best verse on this tune. I feel in a year void of Davido and Yemi Alade, this would have been the biggest Nigerian song.
    4. Shoki Remix – Lil Kesh Feat Davido and Olamide: I personally think this remix ended the argument about who had the biggest Shoki song. Lil Kesh’s remix to his Shoki single took the song and the dance to another level. Shoki became a major export once the video of this remix premiered. The song might even be the biggest song this year to many people, after all it started a dance and featured vocals from arguably Africa’s hottest singer Davido and rapper Olamide. Lil Kesh is also performing everywhere now and certainly Shoki-ing his way to the top of Nigerian music’s food chain..
    5. Sekem – MC Galaxy: You can’t tell me you didn’t dance or at least attempt to dance Sekem this year. The song was so infectious that MC galaxy was at many events this year. From Weddings to Political declarations. Every body just wanted to dance Sekem. Sekem even earned the crooner a US tour, one, which people with bigger catalogues can only dream about. Oya Sekem!

Dbanj vs Don Jazzy [The whole fight story]

In a meeting with Olisa Adibua, 'The Truth' where he discussed how he began his vocation, how he and Don Jazzy met, and what prompted Mo'hits Record's separation, and manage american rapper, Kanye west.

    On holding with Donjazzy

We reinforced before we cleared out the UK on the grounds that Jazzy dropped out with his organization with JJC. Since I was favored to be his companion to realize what had happened and what was occurring back home.rugged man had contacted me once and let me know the sort of cash they were collecting, which when I changed over it was similar to 1,800 pounds or $2,000 every show and I was

like whatt?the individuals raining in the business were styl-plus,2face's plantashun boys.before we even did anything, we listened to what they were playing in Nigeria.jazzy was partial to that ..Oh kid this one wear dey profit oh..(we listen)..we listened to music of everybody profiting ..So when I discovered he had significant issues with JJC , I said "Gracious boy, lets backtrack home".

So we returned, my guardians were here.by then he had moved all his family over there.we returned in 2004 and moved straight into my mum's young men quarter in Mary land.we got a first car, toyota Privera from her ..We said we will pay her later .Bad auto oh..and we paid her for it eventually.we got Tongolo, the first feature and discharged it in November, just before Christmas and that was it...

What created the Mo-hits part ?What made you choose...

What made me? (a light banter)you gentlemen have not addressed Jazzy?jazzy.tell them reality mehn..come and let them know these individuals reality..

What broke Mohits..hmmn Difference of opinion..first of all it wasn't me.we had voyage and left Donjazzy in New York with a percentage of the administration group on the grounds that he had a creation deal.we were attempting to go global..i would cherish in the event that you had the Truth from Jazzy too,it would have been something more

I met Kanye west, yet all of you know I am a businessman.but there were two distinctive deals.one he saw I was an artist, and he needed to sign that artist.then this craftsman said "I have a maker .We have the best thing originating from Africa...and he was sold.and then we traveled to New York

    Paying cash to Kanye

I got an artiste deal.i got a standard artiste bargain on the grounds that Kanye needed to sign me as an artist.then I said nooo..i'm a businessman.i have a record name can do partnership.it was an association between Mohits record, goodmusic and Def Jam records.it will be Dbanj and Donjazzy.i was simply the first piece of the deal.there was additionally a creation bargain on the grounds that Kanye cherished Jazzy's sound ..

On Don Jazzy and the Kanye Deal

He saw the master plan however some individuals are genuine. You can drive a steed to a stream, however you can't constrain it to drink water ..

Anyway what truly brought on the part

Eh first individual on the off chance that I will be truthful will be Dr Sid (Laughs).we returned from Newyork and had a gathering with Donjazzy..and Jazzy communicated his uneasiness like listen, this spot is excessively extravagant, we are burning through cash ..Going to stay there, things dey happen for Nigeria,we are as of now supervisors here..we needn't bother with this ..I'm similar to we are practically there.it is lavish yet we can't promise in light of the fact that its a doggy world out there..i said to him, listen sibling ,this is not uncertainty.for Kanye West to see us,na God..and he said he didn't need us to do it once more ..He wasn't interested.but I let him know on the grounds that I had sensed it before the last show we had.i told the legal counselors in New York.they were attempting to get him to come around however he didn't .

So we had that gathering and he said he didn't need me as an accomplice once more .That there was alot ..I let him know to provide for me 6 months..to persuade him again..maybe to offer my offer to another person, take the cash to go and attempt once more ..I saw it wasn't working and he structured a collaboration with Sid.it was clear.he wasn't happy around me .My mix-up was, I wasn't sufficiently delicate to have recognized ..

So December 2011, amid a general gathering following 6 months, he said he had thought in regards to it and wasn't intrigued ..Infact, not simply him..that this one is not interested, this one is not interested(mo hits members)..i said ah! I was grief stricken. Kswitch is my brother..but reality? K-switch was with them ..

Individuals were not comfortable..now I take a gander at it, perhaps I did change..we all changed..it wasn't money.it was on account of we ran mo hits record like a family.that's the reason we fizzled...

Nigeria's Boko Haram unrest: African leaders urged to act

Maiduguri would be a major prize for Boko Haram
African states ought to act rapidly and by and large to control the developing danger postured by Nigeria's aggressor Islamists, the African Union boss has said.
Cross-fringe assaults into Cameroon demonstrated the dangers the Boko Haram gathering postured, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said.
Nigeria has rejected AU or UN intercession, saying local armed forces are fit for managing the danger.
Its troops repulsed another assault by Boko Haram on the key north-eastern city of Maiduguri on Sunday night.
Boko Haram propelled a full-scale revolt in north-eastern Nigeria in 2009 to make an Islamic state.

In an address to African foreign ministers at the AU headquarters in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Ms Dlamini-Zuma said recent attacks by Boko Haram were deeply horrifying.
AU heads of state had agreed to include the conflict on the agenda of their summit, due to begin on Friday, she said.
Correspondents say Boko Haram and Somalia's militant Islamist group al-Shabab will now dominate the summit, which was supposed to focus on women's empowerment and development.
US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Nigeria on Sunday to call for peaceful elections next month.
Boko Haram seized the north-eastern Nigerian town of Monguno on Sunday, raising further doubts about whether elections could be held across the country on 14 February.
It controls many towns and villages in the north-eastern Borno state and Maiduguri, the state capital, is seen as a prized scalp for the group.
The conflict has caused a humanitarian crisis affecting some three million people, Nigerian officials say.

Capturing Maiduguri would be Boko Haram's most significant achievement yet, taking the largest city in north-east Nigeria and returning to the place where it began a full-scale insurrection in 2009.
It is also a battle the Nigerian military cannot afford to lose. Boko Haram has been inching across Borno state and even if its fighters are repelled now, another audacious attack is inevitable, considering much of the area around Maiduguri is already under its control.
The army has been working to defend its major cities from Boko Haram raids but Nigerians would expect their soldiers to also be reclaiming the towns seized by the insurgents, which we have not really seen so far

In an interview with the BBC Hausa service, Borno state governor Kashim Shettima called on people not to panic.
"This is our land. No fear, no flight, no retreat. We should not flee. We have a history dating back 1,000 years and I swear by Allah we are going to beat [Boko Haram]," he said.

A 24-hour curfew imposed on Sunday in Maiduguri has been relaxed and some businesses reopened on Monday.
Government troops beat back Boko Haram fighters who had launched an assault on the city on Sunday night - the second in less than 24 hours, an army source told the BBC.
Both attacks were in the Jimtilo district.
Loud explosions were heard in the city, a resident told the BBC Hausa service.
'Houses on fire' A medical source said the four biggest hospitals in Maiduguri were overwhelmed with casualties.
Some relatives took away corpses that lay at the entrance of the Maiduguri General Hospital, he told the BBC.
Children as young as four years were among those who had been treated for bullet wounds, he added.

    • Founded in 2002, initially focused on opposing Western-style education - Boko Haram means "Western education is forbidden" in the Hausa language
    • Launched military operations in 2009 to create Islamic state
    • Thousands killed, mostly in north-eastern Nigeria - has also attacked police and UN headquarters in capital, Abuja
    • Has abducted hundreds, including at least 200 schoolgirls
    • Controls several north-eastern towns
    • Has launched attacks on Cameroon

President Goodluck Jonathan visited Maiduguri on Saturday as part of his election campaign, his second visit in two weeks.
The army in Monguno, 140km (85 miles) north of Maiduguri, was reported to have been overwhelmed when Boko Haram attacked on Sunday, setting houses on fire.
A journalist in Maiduguri told the BBC that fleeing soldiers from Monguno had arrived at the barracks in Maiduguri.
Mr Kerry urged Mr Jonathan and the main opposition's presidential candidate, former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, not to condone violence during what is expected to be a tense election campaign.
He said the US could do more to help against Boko Haram, as long as the elections passed off smoothly.

The US does not currently sell weapons to Nigeria's military because of its human rights record.
Last week, Nigeria's national security adviser Sambo Dasuki told the BBC that regional armies were in "good shape" to take on Boko Haram and so they did not need help from the UN or AU.
However, there have been many reports of government forces fleeing when Boko Haram fighters advance.
Some soldiers say they do not have enough weapons and working equipment to defend territory.
Chad, seen as having the most capable military in the region, sent a convoy of troops and 400 military vehicles to Cameroon earlier this month to battle Boko Haram.
